Love Is A Verb ... 3.
The (Pen)Ultimate Goal.
There are many differing forms of love in our lives, more so for some than for others. There is love of another person for whatever reason(s) and in whatever way you may love them. There is also the love for a pet, an art form, a sport or recreation, the love of nature and of life to name just a few. Beyond all these, there is another:
        UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
This is the ultimate goal of life here on this physical plane. (Earth) What the term 'unconditional love' means is that you love every one and everything equally and unreservedly, regardless of who or what they are, have been or might become. There are absolutley NO conditions or expectations with this kind of love. It is given freely and equally to everyone and everything in creation. This does not mean that some-one who loves unconditionally approves of everything that they see, hear or feel around them. They just choose not to judge or condemn but to love it anyway. 'Greater love hath no man or woman than that they will give up their judgement (discriminations and prejudices as well) for love of their fellow humans'
Many of the problems in relationships arise from the tendency of most of us to view both the relationship and our partner as possessions. Neither one is or can ever be possessed. They may be a part of your life and you may be able to reach out and touch your partner (I have never seen a relationship that I could touch.) and enjoy, even treasure, both while they are in your life, but they can never be possessions.
Each individual person is a separate spirit and at the same time a part of God. The only part of God that  you might be able to own would be your own spirit, certainly NOT somebody else's spirit. My personal view is that we ALL belong to God and he has seen fit to let us have a little play with ourselves to see if we might perchance learn something from it. Love, perhaps?
For some further interesting reading, you might like to try Barbara De Angelis' book, "Real Moments" (published by Dell Publishing), especially Chapter 7. (And I hope she will not complain too much about the free plug which as yet she doesn't know she is getting.)
